Bill Hamaker, Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher, is a graduate of both The American School of Laughter Yoga (2009) and The Dr. Kataria School of Laughter Yoga (2010) and attended the 2010 American Laughter Yoga Conference in Albuquerque. He is also the co-founder of The Let's Laugh Today Laughter Club in Franklin, Massachusetts and has been named an Ambassador to Laughter Yoga by Dr. Madan Kataria, the Indian physician who created laughter yoga. Bill is a systems analyst during the day working in a very technical field and feels that laughter yoga helps to balance out his life because of the creativity and playfulness of it.
Linda and Bill were introduced to laughter yoga in 2008 when they participated in a three-day seminar at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, MA. They had seen laughter yoga on "Oprah" and "The Today Show" the year before and had been curious about it. It had been in this country since 2004 and began in India in 1995. They enjoyed "laughing for no reason" so much that in April of 2009, they enrolled in a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader training seminar in Chicago. They learned how to start and lead a monthly non-profit laughter club and bring this unique, fun exercise to the south of Boston for the very first time. In September 2009 they began Let's Laugh Today in Franklin, MA which has been extremely successful and has been featured in The Walpole Times, The Milford News, the Franklin Country Gazette, The Valley Breeze, The Fifty-Plus Advocate, and The Sun Chronicle.
They hope to continue spreading the joy of laughter yoga at The Center at Westwoods so the community can add the health benefits of some good belly laughs to their own lives. They also lead private laughter sessions with team-building exercises for groups or businesses and run Certified Laughter Yoga Leader trainings. Laughter yoga has been an uplifting, life changing experience for them. HO HO HA HA HA!

Laughter yoga encourages playfulness, deep belly laughs, social connection, and a balance of mind, body, and spirit. A fake laugh even has all the same health benefits as a real one, but turns into a real laugh when practiced in a group! It is called laughter yoga because it combines laughter exercises with yoga breathing. This brings more oxygen to the body and the brain which makes one feel more energetic and healthy. There are no fancy movements or joke-telling and any level of physical ability can do this as it can be done sitting or standing. Ages 10 and older are invited!
Every session will have different exercises that you will be able to do at home. Everyone should experience this at least once! It has been shown that laughing strengthens the immune system, unwinds the negative effects of stress, lowers blood pressure, improves mental alertness, helps with depression and much more. Please bring your water bottle because laughing is dehydrating.
